Dr. Vijay Kumar Prajapati
Dr. Vijay Kumar Prajapati is working as Associate Professor at the Department of Biochemistry, University of Delhi South Campus. He served as Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry, Central University of Rajasthan from 2013-2022. He received Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry from the Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University followed by post-doctoral training at University of South Alabama, USA.
Dr. Prajapati group is working on the designing and development of chimeric vaccine for visceral leishmaniasis. They have used imunoinformatics tools to design the vaccine followed by its expression in Pichia pastoris. Further, they are checking the safety and immunostimulatory property of the vaccine. They are using reverse vaccinology and immunoinformatics approach to design the potential and safe vaccine for COVID-19 and other human viral infections. His group is exploring the apoptotic and anti-apoptotic genes present in the Leishmania donovani using the CRISPR-Cas9 editing system. His group is identifying the potential inhibitors by doing high throughput virtual screening against chemical compounds or secondary metabolites library. Further they are investigating the potential compound efficacy in in-vitro and in-vivo. They are also working to develop the nanomedicine.
Dr. Prajapati is a recipient of INSA Medal for Young Scientist from Indian National Science Academy, New Delhi; Associate of Indian Academy of Sciences, Bengaluru; Prof. Umakant Sinha Memorial Award from Indian Science Congress Association.
